Australian Conservation Foundation

The ACF's Objectives and Strategies blurb reads - "Work towards a society which protects, sustains and restores the environment, and provides healthy air, land, water and biological diversity; sustainable cities and industries; a nuclear-free Australia; and action to protect the global environment." Over all, it's a fantastic website with hundreds of well researched articles on every environmental topic imaginable. As well as state by state subsections, action and campaign info, events calender, publications and many interesting educational resources ("reading Room"). It's also quick loading and easy to navigate around.

The Wilderness Society

"The Wilderness Society is a national, community-based, environmental advocacy organisation whose mission is to protect, promote and secure the future of wilderness and other high conservation areas." A fantastic organisation involved in a large range of Environmental issues. The sites updated regularly with informative articles, and their campaigns sections is always an interesting read. You can sign up to their mailing list and they'll send you updates and news. Wilderness society offer great opportunities to really volunteer and get involved. The Australian Greens

"A Green response to the ecological crisis proceeds on the basis of a respect for all life, human and non-human. We recognise the mutual interdependence between humanity and the rest of nature and we seek to move down an ecologically sustainable path. We seek to eradicate poverty, oppression and discrimination and to build a society that is underpinned by the values of participatory democracy, social justice, and respect for cultural and ecological diversity." The official Australian Greens website is full of interesting articles as well as anything you need to know about the Green Party itself. There is in depth information outlining - History, Charters, Structure, Parliamentary representatives, Elected office bearers, Campaigns, Election information, Media and much much more. Friends of the Earth Australia

"Friends of the Earth (FoE) is a federation of autonomous local groups operating under an agreed set of principles. Foe Australia functions both through local groups, and on the national level through appointed spokespeople, national campaigns, the national magazine-Chain Reaction, and the National Liaison Officers." The FoE Oz page links to Media releases, Current issues and Events. More specifically it links to the numerous FoE Local groups throughout Australia which provides more in depth information and useful info on getting involved in FoE yourself. Greenpeace Australia Pacific

"Greenpeace is an independent organisation campaigning to ensure a just, peaceful, sustainable environment for future generations. Our mission and core values are based on independence, non-violence and bearing witness. Behind the scenes, we campaign on many levels. We use non-violent, direct actions to expose global environmental problems and force solutions." Naturally this site is massive and covers a huge range of issues and outlines all things Greenpeace. Their searchable archive is a resourceful tool.

Environment Victoria

"Environment Victoria encourages innovative, proactive, practical and positive outcomes to environmental problems, by working with individuals, families, community organisations, industry, business and Governments." Useful resource in getting a broad outline of current environmental issues effecting Victoria.

Australian Student Environmental Network

"The Australian Student Environment Network (ASEN) is a national collective of autonomous campus environment groups. The prime role of ASEN is to co-ordinate communication between campus environment groups in order to facilitate collective effort across a range of campaigns and projects." Provides campus news and a useful list of campus contacts involved in the network. A most handy feature is their "Email a Pollie" section which provides contact addresses for the politician of your choice.

EcoSustainable Hub

"This site is intended as our contribution towards ecology, environment and sustainability by providing a one-stop connection to resources and tools that are made available to visitors and researchers without charge. It is also intended to provide a means of introducing Eco Sustainable Developments to a broader audience." This site has thousands of environment related links, from all walks of life, framed around Sustainability and Ecology. Their search section features a number of links to numerous Environment and Sustainability search engines.

Information is also available on environmental technologies operating in Australia." Pretty self explanatory - huge range of links of a corporate nature. Also the site has a interest 'Technology' section.

Goongerah Environment Centre

"GECO is an independent grassroots environment organisation based in East Gippsland. We are dedicated to protecting the remaining old growth forests of the region." Interesting little site outlining what GECO stand for, and resourceful info on their huge involvement in the recent Goolengook troubles. Plus photos, news and updates about the Goolengook situation.

Critical Mass Melbourne
